Christmas at Mangalore

Beach, sun,sand, tourism, Karnataka

Most Indians don't look beyond Goa when it comes to a beach vacation. While Goa is great, I chanced upon this port town near Bangalore that has amazing beaches, great eateries and a cool nightlife.. I'm talking about the not-so-famous Mangalore!

Mangalore has some stunning sunny beaches on the west coast, they are clean, well maintained, parking friendly and perfect for lazing around or taking a dip. Here are the beaches you should visit in Mangalore:

1. Thannirbhavi: the beautiful yellow sands and turquoise water make for a picturesque combination.

2. Malpe: the drive to Malpe is as good as the beach. It is a very long beach with cool beachside restaurants on one side, straw shades and various watersports available..

3. Panambur: this is the most famous beach in Mangalore, known for great sunset views. It also hosts various beach festivals, kite festivals..

Coming to eateries..

1.Machali: You should definitely try sea food at Machali. You'll be surprised at the simplicity of this restaurant, looks humble, go for their thali and order your fish separately, from kingfish to prawns to squids they have coastal Karnataka on a plate. Expect a queue.

2. Diesel cafe: this place looks fun and chic.. try their eggs benedict, and various alcohol based chicken items, they serve super fun and interesting food..

3. Liquid Lounge: this is a posh night pub, with great interiors, great crowd, great cocktails and finger food. We were there in the Christmas week and the vibe was awesome

4. Froth on top: a casual cafe with good snacking options along with beer. A friendly vibe, great place to hang out with your bunch
